If you take Hill to Lowes

Well, I haven't learned my lesson. I'm still taking my children shopping with me. Today, we went clothes shopping for school. Picture this....Old Navy...baskets of soccer balls, footballs, high bouncing balls...Do you know what I'm about to say? You're right, Jaybird and Hillbilly were sure the balls were there for playing. They played football, soccer and still managed to unfold a ton of t-shirts. Well, I made it out alive. Next, I thought we would go to Gap. We probably won't go back in there again...enough said... After several hours at the mall we still had to go to Lowes. This is where the day ended on a fabulous note. As we waited at the paint counter for some paint for a classroom project....a lady squeezed by us with her buggy. Right when she was directly beside us.... Hill yells..."Here comes that mean lady". I was mortified! I said, "Hill, you know better than that."....(Actually I can't remember exactly what I said because I was having an outer body experience.) The lady took a few steps away and then stopped, turned around and cackled like the wicked witch of the west right in Hills face! Now, I know he shouldn't have called her mean, but that was uncalled for. Now I was mad at her and not him! Well, we got out of there only breaking one thing while in the checkout line... My lesson today...never take Hill to Lowes!
PS..when we got in the car, I asked Hill why he called the lady mean...he said...Did you see her eyes? ha!

If you take Hill to Hobby Lobby

You know the book, If you give a mouse a cookie....well, I've written a new one. It's a true story....If you take Hill to Hobby Lobby, he'll probably grab the first breakable item on the shelf. And when you ask him to put it down, he'll probably throw it nicely. When his mama tries to quickly head to the back of the store, he'll find an evergreen wreath to put around his neck. Then his mama gets a great idea...quickly head to the last aisle to look for beads for Vacation Bible School. Well, his mama didn't know that the pre-beaded strings...like part of a necklace would entice the little rat. He decides to stand on the bottom shelf and gently pull the necklace...as he screams..."Don't pull the rope.." now, people who don't have children might not understand this phrase but it's from the t.v. show "Doodlebops"! ...Oh My, how his mama screamed and ran to the checkout. But just when you think Hill and his mama are going to get out of the store, something terribly embarrassing happens....A rather large man walks up behind us and Hill tells him that he's the biggest boy he's ever seen. Luckily, the man laughed. Mama turned red and then they headed for the door. I'm not so sure if his mama will ever take the little rat back into Hobby Lobby, but if she does, I'm sure he'll grab the first breakable item on the shelf. The End

Beach Bums

We are living it up at "Mimi City Beach". Jay coined that phrase when he was a little boy and he knew we were going to Mimi's place at the beach and it was in Panama City. He just combined the two words and the whole family refers to the beach as Mimi City Beach. Jay and Hill are both swimming like fish. Jay has perfected his dive and Hill is too cool for school! There is no evidence of oil. In fact, the water is beautiful. Shelton ordered oysters the other day and the waitress said that they didn't have any because BP is paying the oyster men more to stay at home than they made to fetch the oysters. We have seen military on four wheelers patrolling the beach as well as men walking and "looking". I guess they are looking for tar. All I see is white sand and blue water. We ate at Firefly last night. If you haven't eaten there...it's a must. It's fancy but casual. Does that make sense? It's in the strip mall by Edgewater, right beside the Rocket Lanes. After we ate, we went bowling. It was a blast! You might want to call for reservations. It is the best food on the beach! So sad we have to go home tomorrow, but happy we are returning Thursday for a week! The Fourth of July is fabulous at Mimi City Beach!

The List

This blogging thing is new to me but it's a lot of fun. I can't wait to jazz up my page. Rhonda said that when we both get some time...."we'll go blogging"...She's going to show me how to get the "cutest blog on the block"...literally.. A month or so ago Rhonda made a list of what was happening in her life "right now". I enjoyed reading the list so much that I decided to do my own list. Here goes:
Right Now:
I am typing.
I have on my pajamas and glasses.
I wish I was at the beach.
I want my carpet cleaned.
I fear rats.
I hear nothing...uh oh....now I fear what bird and billy are up to....
I search for things to fill up our summer days so my house won't get destroyed.
I wonder what bird and billy will be when they grow up.
I always drink Diet Mt. Dew in the morning.
I am not a cook.
I sing all the time, to my students, children and to myself.
I cry easily... I sort of like to cry..it makes me feel better.
I need a babysitter...cuz guess what?....I HEAR the boys....they're moving in on me now.....help......

T-ball

T-ball has taken over our lives. Jay made the t-ball allstar team which is made up of 12 boys from our league. We are playing in our fourth tournament of the summer! We are having the most fun we've ever had! Hill has been a trouper...as long as he's got a ring pop, popcorn, boiled peanuts, an icee and a big stick! My baby Jay is growing up. I want to cry every time he gets up to bat. I cannot believe how fast he has grown. He is known on the t-ball field for his line drives! He can hit the ball! Go Dixie!

Finally...doing what my sister has been begging me to do...

"You've got to start a blog"...."It's so fun!"...
My sister Rhonda has been after me to start a blog. I guess it's the new thing to do! She didn't tell me that once you click the "create a blog" button you have to name the thing!! What? I can't just come up with a blog name like that. It takes time to come up with the words that can sum up life in the Murdock household. I couldn't use "Blessings" because Rhonda's already coined that phrase and Aubree uses "Happily Ever After".... What could I use? Well, my blessings are Jaybird and Hillbilly...better known as Bird and Billy to us. I assume most of my blogging will be summaries of the chaos they bring to our lives so "Bird and Billy" it is. I'm not overly thrilled with the title but since I didn't have warning that you have to name the blog...or I didn't even think about it....Bird and Billy it is for now...Warning..the title of my blog is subject to change.
